Annual Physical Exams

We highly recommend yearly wellness visits for your dog due to the variety of vaccines and tests needed. At these annual dog exams you can expect the following nose to tail treatment:

• Vaccination status, weight and heart rate check.
• Parasite control for intestinal parasites, fleas, ticks, mites, and heartworms.
• Examine the dog’s dental health.
• Nutrition inquiries for what your dogs eats daily plus any supplements and treats, including water consumption and appetite.
• Check the ears and eyes for discharge, redness, or itching.
• Examine the stomach and intestines and ask about vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, gas, belching, hiccupping or abnormal stools.
• Listen and check breathing for coughing, shortness of breath, sneezing, or nasal discharge.
• Inspect feet and legs for any limping, weakness, toenail problems.
• Check the coat and skin for hair loss, pigment changes, lumps, itchy spots, shedding, mats, or anal sac problems.
• Blood tests especially for older dogs, or with medical problems, and those receiving medications.
• Urogenital exam asking about heats, mammary glands, urination difficulties or changes, and spaying neutering.
• We will also inquire about general behavior, including the amount of exercise and any problems such as barking, or changes in temperament.

Sick or Injured Exams

Occasionally our canine companions may become ill or injured. Our caring staff will offer you the reassurance that your pet is in good hands. A sick or injured exam consists of the following:

• A complete Q&A regarding symptoms.
• Full nose to tail physical examination to check the dogs eyes, ears, and skin for wounds, lacerations, or unusual rashes.
• Signs of pain, such as panting, labored breathing, increased body temperature, lethargy, restlessness or loss of appetite
• Checking the cardiovascular, neurological, gastrointestinal, respiratory and skeletal system.
• Recording of the pulse, temperature, and weight for comparison.
• May order blood work to test kidney and liver function, pancreas, thyroid, and adrenal glands.
• Screening for possible poisoning or ingesting toxic chemicals, plus insect, rodent or snake bite.
• Also, could recommend diagnostic testing such as a urinalysis radiographs.
